One Big Thing - A Look Back at Our Favourite Blog Posts as We Hit 300 Members

In the past two weeks Never Stop Learning has hit 300 subscribers. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for subscribing. I hope you are enjoying part of this growing community.

Never Stop Learning started back in August 2022 with tentative steps in the Substack world. To be here having met so many of you amazing people and chatted about a variety of topics along the way is incredible. So thank you.

I originally set the mission of “learning how to take simple ideas and use them to improve your life.”

I hope I’ve stuck to that mission as much as possible but I’ve definitely learned a lot about newsletters and what you find useful (and not) along the way.

But we can always improve.

A short survey

Therefore, I’ve set up a very short survey here to get your thoughts about Never Stop Learning so that I can make it more useful to you in future. If you have a couple of minutes to click on the link below that would be amazing.

Looking back at posts you may find useful

As many of you have joined only recently here are some of my older posts that you may find useful.

Taking back control of your phone

For many of us the habit of picking up our phone and scrolling is a something that can eat away at the time you have on this planet. Quite often we know we do it too much but the habit has become ingrained.

With this app you can take back control. Check this out:

How to make better decisions

How often have you sought a decision at work and been asked for a little more information or another piece of analysis? Have you been frustrated by the lack of decision making?

In this post I explored a framework for better decision making.

Protecting your mental health

As you will know from many of my posts, I am a strong advocate for looking after your mental health. It should be on a par with our physical health. As a society we are getting there but on an individual level we are still not doing enough to help ourselves.

In my most popular post to date, here are a few strategies to help you:

You need to look after your sleep habits

And finally, a subject that is very closely related to managing your mental health. Sleep is one of those wonder drugs that can help you deal with mental health and physical health issues.

In this post I explore ways that you can improve your sleep habits and begin to transform other parts of your life.

Two Recommendations - what to consume this week

1. Join me on Substack Notes

Notes is a new space on Substack for us to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more. So far it has been a great place to meet new people and learn about different Subtacks.

How to join

Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to Never Stop Learning, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!

You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of Never Stop Learning can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.

If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there!

2. Looking for more great newsletters and blogs to sign up to? Try The Sample

Each morning, The Sample sends you one article from a random blog or newsletter that matches up with your interests. When you get one you like, you can subscribe to the writer with one click. Sign up here.

Also, if you have a newsletter you would like to promote, they offer a great service that gets your writing out there to a new audience.

Three Actions To Take This Week

My vision for this newsletter is to provide you with weekly actions that you can take away and use in your life in the coming week. So, here are three things you could try this week:

  1. If you’re working from home, make sure you get outside before you hit the laptop. Inventing a commute can really help you separate work time and give you the added boost of getting the blood pumping early in the day.

  2. Experiment with sleeping with your phone outside the bedroom. Alarm clocks are an amazing invention and they don’t suck the first half an hour of your day.

  3. Put that alarm clock across the room from your bed. No snooze button hitting!

And… to get the latest post each week please don’t forget to hit subscribe

I provide a FREE post every week with each one having the mission to inspire and support learning across our community.

There is also a Paid Option which you may want to consider and is amazing value at under $3 per month with an annual plan. This will give you:

  • Full Access to the Never Stop Learning Archive

  • Ability to start your own threads in our chat

  • Help keep Never Stop Learning’s weekly posts FREE

So far we have used Paid Subscriptions to pay for resources to help build Never Stop Learning. This has covered various books and research materials that have helped build out the posts.

If you found value in this newsletter and believe others can benefit too, please feel free to share it with your friends, family, and colleagues so they can also gain insights and join our growing community of informed individuals!

It helps more than you know. Thank you!
